How reversing works
The string is split into individual characters, the order of the array is inverted, and the characters are joined back together. Nothing else changes: Calculorium becomes muiroluclaC with the capital C now at the end. Spaces and punctuation are reversed along with the letters.
The reversal runs entirely in your browser, so the text you paste is never uploaded, transmitted or stored on a server. There is no practical length limit for ordinary documents.
Once you are done here, the character counter picks up where this leaves off.
Palindromes and word order
A palindrome reads the same both ways once you ignore case, spaces and punctuation — “A man, a plan, a canal: Panama” is the classic example, and the badge above flags it automatically. Note that this tool reverses characters, not word order, so “hello world” becomes “dlrow olleh”. To change letter casing instead, use the case converter.
For a closely related job, the text to binary converter does it in one click.
Practical uses
Reversed strings are handy for puzzle and quiz creation, for testing how an interface handles right-to-left looking input, for obfuscating a giveaway answer, and for classic coding exercises. If you need the reversed text repeated as a pattern, chain it into the text repeater.
Worked example: a quiz answer such as “Warsaw” reversed to “wasraW” hides the solution in plain sight until the reader flips it back, and reversed sample strings are a quick way to check that a text field renders unfamiliar character orders without clipping.
Frequently asked questions
- What is “Calculorium” reversed?
- muiroluclaC — the same eleven characters read from the end to the beginning.
- Does it reverse words or letters?
- Letters. Every character is flipped, so word order also appears reversed within the string.
- How does it detect a palindrome?
- It lowercases the text, removes non-alphanumeric characters, then compares the result with its own reverse.
- Are spaces and punctuation kept?
- Yes, they are reversed together with the letters and nothing is removed from the output.
- What happens to emoji when the text is reversed?
- Emoji built from several code points, such as flags or skin-tone variants, can break apart into their component symbols when reversed. Plain letters, digits, accents and punctuation always reverse cleanly.
