How a weighted grade works
A weighted grade multiplies each category's score by its weight, adds those up, and divides by the total weight. Categories that count for more (like a final exam) move your grade more than a single quiz. The formula is grade = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weight).
How to use this calculator
Enter each category's average score as a percentage and its weight (how much of the final grade it counts for). Leave unused rows blank. Your weights don't have to add up to 100 — the calculator divides by whatever total you enter, so it also works for a grade in progress. Worked example
Homework 95% (weight 20), quizzes 88% (20), tests 82% (40), project 90% (20). Weighted points = 95×20 + 88×20 + 82×40 + 90×20 = 8740, divided by total weight 100 = 87.4%, a B+. - Do my weights have to add up to 100%?

- Why doesn't my result match my school's portal?
- Usually because of dropped scores or extra credit. Many courses drop the lowest quiz or add bonus points inside one category, so recalculate that category's average under those rules before entering it here.
