How to convert years to days
A standard (non-leap) year contains 365 days, so to convert years to days you multiply by 365. For example, 2 years × 365 = 730 days. A leap year has 366 days, so over four years the average is closer to 365.25.
Decimal years work the same way: 0.5 years is 182.5 days, 1.5 years is 547.5 days and 2.75 years is 1,003.75 days. If a fractional answer is awkward, round to the nearest whole day and remember the 365-day assumption is already an approximation over long spans.
The same numbers feed straight into the age in days calculator.
How to use this calculator
Enter a number of years (whole or decimal) and the days appear instantly. To convert months instead, use the months to days calculator, or break days into hours with the days to hours calculator.
Once you have days, every smaller unit follows: multiply by 24 for hours, so 2 years is 17,520 hours, by 1,440 for minutes and by 86,400 for seconds. Dividing by 7 gives weeks, which makes 2 years about 104.3 weeks.
A note on leap years
This calculator uses 365 days per year for simplicity. If you need exact calendar accuracy that includes leap days, add one day for every leap year (roughly one in four) in your range.
The size of the gap grows with the span. Over 4 years you are one day short (1,460 against the real 1,461), over 20 years roughly five days, and over a century about 24 days. For anything up to a couple of years, 365 days per year is close enough for planning.
Once that is settled, the weeks to days calculator takes care of the next part.
Frequently asked questions
- How many days are in 2 years?
- Using 365 days per year, 2 years is 730 days (2 × 365 = 730).
- How do I convert years to days?
- Multiply the number of years by 365, the number of days in a standard year.
- Does this account for leap years?
- No, it uses 365 days per year. Add one extra day for each leap year in your range for exact accuracy.
- How many days are in 10 years?
- Ten years is about 3,650 days at 365 days each, or 3,652 including the two or three leap days.
- Which years actually count as leap years?
- A year is a leap year if it divides by 4, except century years, which must also divide by 400 — so 2024 and 2000 qualify but 1900 and 2100 do not. That rule is why the long-run average year is 365.2425 days rather than a flat 365.25.
