How hours convert to days
There are 24 hours in a day, so to convert hours to days you divide by 24. For example 48 ÷ 24 = 2 days, and 36 hours = 1.5 days (1 day 12 hours).
The division works the same way in both directions: multiply days by 24 to get hours back. A worked example with a remainder: 100 ÷ 24 = 4.1667 days, which reads as 4 days and 4 hours, because 4 × 24 = 96 and 100 − 96 = 4.

To turn a decimal remainder into hours, multiply the part after the point by 24. The 0.1667 above gives 0.1667 × 24 = 4 hours. The same trick works one level down: 0.25 hours is 0.25 × 60 = 15 minutes.
Common conversions
12 h = 0.5 day, 24 h = 1 day, 72 h = 3 days, 168 h = 7 days (one week). Each hour is about 0.0417 of a day.
Longer spans are worth knowing too: 336 h = 14 days (two weeks), 720 h = 30 days (a typical billing month) and 8,760 h = 365 days (a common year). Cloud hosting, equipment hire and maintenance intervals are often quoted in hours, so these anchors make a quote easy to read at a glance.
One caveat: calendar days are not always exactly 24 hours long. On the two daylight-saving switchovers a local day runs 23 or 25 hours, so a span crossing one of those dates will be an hour out if you convert it purely by dividing.
