How to convert pennies to dollars
A penny is one cent, and 100 pennies make a dollar, so dollars = pennies ÷ 100. For example, 700,000 pennies ÷ 100 = $7,000.
More examples: 250 pennies ÷ 100 = $2.50, 10,000 pennies = $100 and 1,000,000 pennies = $10,000. To go the other way, multiply dollars by 100: $45.60 is 4,560 pennies. The decimal point is doing all the work here — dividing by 100 just moves it two places to the left.

Foreign coins, tokens and slugs are rejected by counting machines and will jam a bank's sorter, and a handful of dimes hiding among the pennies will make your hand count come out well below the machine's total.
